The Paperless Paradigm Shift (part 1)

We are right in the middle of a revolution in how we work. You can see the changes every day.


Your bills are sent to you electronically. In the olden days all bills arrived by mail, then you mailed off a cheque and threw all the paper into a shoebox. Now a growing percentage of the bill-paying public gets their bills electronically. But, that is not the revolution. That is not the change in our lives.


Let's play "which group are you".


You:

1. Get bill by mail. Pay it. Feel smug.
2. Glance at the email, sometimes check the e-bill, and pay it - let's say every month.
3. Print your e-bill. Pay it. Stuff all the paper into a shoebox.
4. Download your bill. Pay it. Upload your bill (and the banking transactions) to your cloud server. In ten years you will be able to search for "April Gas Usage" and find out all about all your home heating. You will be able to find out this information anywhere, anytime, and for any reason.

The revolution: Soon business and most individuals will be the nerds in choice 4.
